This was a really good weekend! It’s been a while since I’ve really talked about my personal life but I have been dating someone for about 5 months now and it looks like things are super ‘normal’ for once. That’s not to say that the blokes I’ve dated before weren’t awesome (because they were) but this one is a little different as in, no anger or commitment issues. Yay me.

So why have I kept so quiet about him for so long? Simply put, I was afraid of jinxing it! Things are really awesome and Aaron is essentially an encapsulation of everything I pretty much wanted: old fashioned, well-dressed, intelligent, NORMAL. (I can’t seem to stress enough the importance of that last trait.)

Only reason I’m mentioning him at all today is simply because this is the first time I actually (willingly) take a picture with him. Yes, I have strange paranoias and I think it was getting to a point where he was getting frustrated that I just wouldn’t take any pictures with him after all the memories we’ve made and places we’ve gone together to.

We had coffee at my house first thing in the morning although I’m a bit of a dark roast lover (Royal Vinter for me, thanks) which doesn’t really suit his more mellow pallet. After coffee and a little homework (he’s an NMSU Aggie, I’m a UTEP Miner) we set off to the historic Montana district downtown and just looked at the awesome architecture; I’ve always had a passion for vintage structures, whereas he’s the kind that loves restoring stuff from the ground up. That’s got to be a good combination.

After all of that wandering, we went to the Amigo Airsho. The Airsho (yes, they spell it like that) is a yearly, local phenom that takes place at Biggs Army Airfield and essentially it’s a day full of fun military awesomeness featuring aerial tricks, vehicle demonstrations and tons of carnival food.

El Paso is fortunate to have one of the largest Army bases in the middle of the city and it’s no secret that the Patriot Missle is one of our acquisitions. Despite some of the antics that the soldiers pull, I’m just happy they’re around to enhance our economy. More money spent = more business = richer community.

I was lucky to have gone this year; the company I work for paid for a catered chalet, which allowed us free entry, corporate parking and copious amounts of deliciousness from Rudy’s BBQ.
